It was a late November night and I was pretty restless. I recently downloaded Audacity 1.3 so I can throw together a podcast and decided that I wanted to see what I could really do with this program, so I hooked up a mic to my laptop and started mumbling random things at different pitches and and tried to see what different modulations I could make. Eventually my voice became this strange fucked up drone thingy so I decided why not plug in my roommates guitar and mix the two together and by doing this I came up with an even more fucked up drone that was actually somewhat presentable. SO I tossed in a few more sound from the guitar and read an old poem of mine. Thus the birth of "Mucile", the first official Wires & Decay song. The next few days where all kind of mixed up. Lack of sleep, intoxication, and a motivated depression. I finished an 8 track EP in 5 days, including an additional cover song for a single (I believe singles should always have something extra or unique to the album it comes from). I had to stall for a few days a month at most be for I could release the EP because I needed to get some artwork done. I was making the music as a fun little project and because I had a lot of time on my hands. My friend LaptopBob told me that he's never heard anything like this and he was amazed by what I've created, and during the time I was fixing up "Kyss (part 3)" I asked him to say something, anything, so he grabbed the mic and mumbled a few words then when he finished I too his track, chopped it up and made it all kinds of different.
During the artwork for the first EP I consulted my dear friend William Pierce and he agreed to help me with the photos. He gave a listen to the music and loved it also. I released the album, and started to think about the next one. I didn't really think about making numerous albums when I did this, again, it was because I had the time and motivation to be creative. I figured I'd need an extra hand in case my brain gets too jumbled with ideas and explodes, So William agreed to be my extra noisemaker. He said that he still wanted it to be "my" project and decided that the only way for me to agree is to use Trent Reznor against me, he said "Trent uses a lot of people to help him out with the production of NIN albums and they are never really part of nine inch nails" (I can't remember exactly what he said but it was something like that). That tricky modest friend of mine had became the "Unofficial" member of W&D.
Currently I'm receiving a lot of help for my project, from friend giving me guitar and drum lines to play around with, to people getting excited to here what comes out next. At the moment their isn't much of a fan club, but I've only really been out for a month or so. I have a feeling more people will listen to this and I hope they do. I know that my current sound is somewhat under skilled but it'll get better, it always does. Wires & Decay is currently working on 2 EPs and 1 LP. I'm also trying to throw together a few of my early stuff and maybe some b-tracks from upcoming albums to release to everyone. Well I hope you all in enjoy the music and share it with friends and family and random people on the street.
